Lisa Parisi, is a 5th grade teacher in Long Island. After years of both good and bad experiences in working in a co-teaching situation, she has compiled her 4 rules for a successful inclusive classroom. Is there anything that you would add to this list? Would you take anything away? Please comment here.

I agree with all four rules. I would add a suggestion to all teachers who have the oportunity to take the Special Education courses. It would be great to have these resources that are available for the Special Needs students be available for the Regular Needs students.

I totally agree with your tactics!! I do not separate students in groups. As a classroom teacher you are responsible for ‘all’ of those students in that classroom. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing Lisa Parisi’s blog article regarding 4 rules for inclusion. As an art teacher, I would add a rule for inclusion: All special subject teachers should read all students’ IEPs! Besides it being the law, it is so significant for special subject teachers to make modifications for students with special needs.
